Working in a virtual team?

Do you work as  part of a virtual team? Do you find it a challenge to keep your team motivated, engaged and focused? If so,  you might be interested to read some tips gathered from 40 experienced project professionals. Last Friday, I had the pleasure to facilitate a workshop about virtual teams at the annual PMI Fair (Project Management  Institute)   in Belgium. The findings were both informative and enlightening. But firstly, did you ever count the  years you have been working in a virtual team? Chances are it’s less  than 10. So perhaps it’s  comforting to consider that we are [...]

Talking to your car…

When was the last time you spoke to your car and what did it answer back?  I talk to mine nearly every day; asking it to phone someone or to guide me to an address.  My car doesn’t always understand me, especially when I forget to speak in an accent it understands, i.e. English phonetics.  Nonetheless, the process is fairly efficient and helps me keep my eyes on the road and my hands on the wheel. However, as we all know speaking the truth can be almost impossible (or even foolish) at times.  Therefore, it was with light relief that I heard the [...]

The worst and best out of office messages!

The worst and best out of office messages! I recently sent out an e-mail invitation to my business colleagues and as you can imagine, it being August, I received a great deal of out of office replies. Because I was stuck in the office and not away on holiday, I decided to pass the time reading all the replies, (I know my life is sad), here’s just a few of the best and worst – enjoy! (perhaps yours is among them)? :-) Dear, I will be out of the office from 24/7 until 7/8. I will read my emails sporadically [...]
